Exciting news - our proposal to the International Monetary Fund Anti-Corruption Challenge has been shortlisted!
Together with partners from Open Knowledge Estonia, Justiitsministeerium, DELNA - Sabiedrība par atklātību and Datu skola we submitted an idea that would harvest open data for early detection of conflicts of interest in public procurement. Crossing Estonian and Latvian datasets from the business register, political party funding register and public procurement register is the basis for a platform that would redflag potential conflicts of interest. As a tool, this could be used by the law enforcement, journalists, NGOs and any other watchdogs to make sure our policy-making is transparent and free of undue influence. The next step is to add new datasets and expand the platform to include more countries.
Within a few weeks 8 proposals will be shortlisted and participants flown to a bootcamp to refine ideas. In the end, 3 winning teams will receive seed funding to make their anti-corruption initiatives a reality.
