KaPo, the Internal Security Service, has arrested a Jõhvi councilman, a former local politician and a businessman accused of rigging state procurements, bribery and influence peddling.
According to the charge, Märt Marits, a member of the city's council from the fall of 2014 until April this year, took bribes concerning a mall currently being built in Jõhvi, NE Estonia, Põhjarannik reported.
KaPo also arrested Allan Mänd, who currently sits on the city's council and who is building the mall in question. A second businessman has been taken into custody for alleged state procurement violations and giving bribes. The latter case is believed to concern reconstruction of a local road in Jõhvi, Estonia's 13th largest town.
